About the Event
Habitat believes that caring for the environment goes together with building quality housing. For many years, they have chosen to reduce waste and energy use, and have a firm commitment to sustainability in internal business practices and community programs. Habitat recently created a Sustainability Department to strengthen new and existing environmental initiatives across the organization.
Current sustainable programming at Habitat includes:
- ReNew the Block, a large-scale neighborhood revitalization project that focuses on critical home repair, stormwater mitigation, urban agriculture, and community education – all on one city block
- The La Crosse Area Sustainable Community Collaborative (SCC), an initiative intent on forming a concentration of all sustainable, Springtime events in the area, to create a larger conservation impact.
- And construction of a Habitat Solar Farm, to provide renewable energy to low-income families at no cost.
Sustainability Chats are monthly virtual green tours celebrating and highlighting the sustainable efforts happening throughout the Driftless region.
Registration is free for our virtual events, but required.
Our Sustainability Chats are free of charge thanks to the support of our members and donors. Thank you!
