Our October Sustainability Chat is a timely one with the upcoming election season. We sat down with Lee Rasch, Executive Director of LeaderEthics to talk about their work and how peaceful and inclusive societies are an important base to a sustainable world.
UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 emphasizes the importance of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, ensuring access to justice, and establishing effective, accountable institutions. This goal is vital because it tackles the root causes of conflict, mistrust and insecurity, which can undermine efforts. By fostering peaceful environments, we can empower individuals to participate in decision-making processes, enhancing safety and respect. The presence of robust institutions and the absence of violence are essential for economic stability, social cohesion, and overall quality of life. A peaceful, just society serves as a foundation for sustainable development, promoting cooperation, innovation, and shared prosperity, which leads to long-term benefits for communities.
